Elbow puffs up

Posted by: Mark, 22-Aug 18:11
Sometimes my elbow kind of "puffs" up a little bit.

It happens after I've been leaning on my desk for a few hours. It doesn't really hurt, but just goes a bit swollen and "spongey". Is this something I should get checked?

it could be a case of tennis elbow... WikiPedia says:

Tennis elbow is a condition where the outer part of the elbow becomes painful and tender, usually as a result of a specific strain or overuse. Although it is called "tennis elbow", it should be noted that it is not restricted to tennis players. If one hyperextends an elbow in any sport, this may be classified as tennis elbow. Anyone who does a lot of work involving lifting at the elbow or repetitive movements at the wrist is susceptible to tennis elbow

Sounds more like Bursitis: "A bursa is a fluid-filled sac that reduces friction around your joints", although that NHS website does say "The most common symptoms are constant pain, tenderness, and swelling around a joint." - You say it doesn't hurt much, so maybe not.

LUMPY ELBOW

I had a fluidy lump on my right elbow that looked terrible. The doctor would drain it with a needle every couple of months, but it would come right back. Then another doctor put a drain tube in it for a week, which really was not the answer. Then a surgeon said he would operate. But before he did that, I was working in a crawl space on plywood flooring and leaned, by mistake, on the problem elbow really hard. Something happened inside and the next day the lumpy elbow went way down and continued to go down as I rubbed the elbow hard against the bone and, I suppose, "squoosh" the fluid away. That was a year ago, and the elbow is 100% normal. But, as a precaution, I "squoosh" the elbow hard against the bone twice daily to maybe dispurse any fluid that might acumulate. Try it......it worked for me just fine

I to have had a continual sac filled with fluid around my elbw. Strangely it is on both. This is going on it's 2nd year. Each Elbow simultaneously would swell up and fluids would burst out of both it was a lot of fluid clear like water. It was quite embarrassing. It went down briefly but now my right elbow is now growing what looks like a piece of hard callous out of it and the left elbow will still goosh fluid but not as much and it is no longer clear but has a slight redishyellow tint to it. It doesn't hurt but sometimes my elbows feel like they are burning and very sensitive to fabric or anything on them. I do not have insurance so going and getting a diagonosis is not in the cards. Anybody know what this is..?

MY right elbow has a Large unsightly sack around it. The doctor advised me to see if it goes down, even a little; it has not. No pain, except last night at the gym when I did a curl, with the elbow resting on a padded surface I had some pain, so I stopped.
